In January 1998, the Main Street Association was created by a grant sponsored by the Community Action Network. The goal of the organization is to create a positive community image, preserve historic community assets, attract new businesses, develop visually appealing buildings and streetscape and increase sales and revenue for the community.
The organization is funded through its membership dues, private donations and various fundraising events. The annual membership is $10. The regular meeting date is every month on the 2nd Thursday. Several community events are sponsored by the Association through out the year. In May everyone is invited to a Community Block Party, with entertainment and free hamburgers and hot dogs for everyone. On the 3rd Saturday in October the Association sponsors the Main Street Festival.
